Patents and Trademarks: Protect Your Inventions and Techniques

The waste and recycling industry uses specialized equipment and works under specific guidelines, all of which should be promoted and protected.  In September 2011, President Obama signed major overhaul legislation on patent law -- America Invents Act.  Included in this session is the latest information on types of patents and trademarks, how to file patent and trademark applications, costs and timelines for filling, differences at the state and federal levels, and specialized agreements such as secrecy.

Before the show you need to:

1.  Patent your devices, systems, methods, compositions & software

2. Trademark your company name, product name, logo’s and slogans

3. Copyright your brochures, manuals and printed materials

4. Show proper patent markings

5. Show proper trademark markings

6. Show proper copyright markings

7. Consider requiring employees and contractor to sign non-disclosure, confidentiality, or non-compete agreements
